First Congregational United Church of Christ is located in downtown Poughkeepsie, at 269 Mill Street. Our congregation has been in existence since 1839, initially being formed as an anti-slavery congregation. In 1957 we joined the United Church of Christ and in 2007 we became an open and affirming congregation. Today we welcome EVERYONE to come worship with us.
Our explicit welcome for our LGBTQ+ family is on display through the flags that are mounted outside our building, by the banner that hangs above our church entrance, the fact that our pastor is an out lesbian pastor and our continued presence at the Poughkeepsie Pride Parade every year. No matter who a person is or where they are on their journey of faith, EVERYONE is welcome here at FCCUCC!
